My Journey back to God
On Sunday 7th may, I went to my second Open Heaven meeting,
and I have to say how great it was. I would like to thank you for
helping me shed light on my relationship with God.

I attended church from the time I was born till I was 17, I was
very pro-active in the church, regularly attending Sunday church and I
was a youth group leader, musician and even took my own sermon once or
twice. However, things went down hill when I started playing American
football, which incidentally coincided with church on a Sunday. I
decided to go to church one week and then play American football the
other. However, commitment to the American football team became a
priority and ended up not going completely. Also an argument that
sprung up between some of the people at the church and my parents
caused us to leave. I never went to church again until 30th April.
For
those 3 years, I strayed onto the wrong path and ended up getting
depressed and stressed about everything, I even was thinking about
ending it all there and then. I just felt that it was all getting too
much, I felt lonely despite having friends around me, I felt empty and
felt as though I was carrying a ton of bricks on my head.
However;
During
a night at the Union, I started speaking to a friend of mine Jon
Staplehurst, I knew he was a Christian and I ended up asking him where
and when he went to church!. He explained to me about Open Heaven and
decided to go. I felt right at home as soon as I walked into room 1.
The afternoon there was fantastic, great worship and great sermon, that
night I prayed to God to renew my relationship, I always new that he
was still there for me over the past 3 years, however I chose to ignore
him and strayed in the completely wrong direction.
As
soon as I walked into Open Heaven, I felt as though those bricks were
lifted off of me. Being a part of Open Heaven and renewing my
relationship with God, meant that immediately the depression and stress
began to leave. I have never felt better, and have made a lot of great
friends.
‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.’ Rev 3:20
I tell you something, this was my revelation. I felt like all
this time Jesus was knocking at the door, asking to come in, but I
ignored it. Thankfully the knock became louder and louder until I
decided to open the door.
My only wish is to turn back time and
attend Open Heaven in my first year and become more pro-active within
the church, however being a finalist, I will just have to make the best
I have with the time I do have.
I would like to say thank you to you all.
God Bless
