Climate Change

"In spring, it shouldn't be hot, but this year was really hot," says Murat. "Summer is usually hot with no rain but this year we had lots of rain. This year the weather killed my tomatoes and I am having to buy them instead. Because the harvest was bad, the prices have gone up…Things are changing for the worse." Murat Baikarimov, Tajikistan

Climate change is happening and the changes are certain.  The poor, those who did the least to cause the problems, are feeling the worst affects as they struggle to cope in harsher and more unpredictable climates.  Floods, droughts and natural disasters are becoming increasingly common rather than rare occurrences.

We have the means to be able to do something, before we do irreversible damage.  We can act through cutting our own emissions and calling on the government and big businesses to commit to large reductions in carbon emissions over the coming years.

Go to footprint.wwf to work out your carbon footprint.

Check out the Christian Aid website  for more information on climate change and how to take action, including emailing your MP to ask them to agree to amendments in the upcoming climate change bill.
