[25-06-08] Albania 2008
A group of us are going out to Albania this Sunday (29th June) until the 15th July.
[04-04-08] Tithe Your Holiday
Tithing is something Christians are generally familiar with but we usually apply it to our finances.

Albania 2008

A group of us are going out to Albania this Sunday (29th June) until the 15th July.  Open Heaven has established links with two Churches in Albania, in Kruja and Paskuqan, which we have sent teams to in previous years, and is exploring links with a third in Korça.

Our vision to date has been:

  • To serve the Albanian Church in humility, not as “teachers” but as “students”.
  • To respond to the needs of the Church and community, rather than taking our own agenda.
  • To encourage, edify and bless the Church.
  • To train up potential leaders and see people step out in their giftings.
  • To see spiritual growth in the lives of individuals, resulting in a passionate and powerful Church.
  • To show a positive attitude towards Albania, accepting and embracing its culture, and to communicate the message that “God loves Albania”!

KRUJA

Our work in Kruja usually involves running evangelistic workshops for children and young people, and supporting/encouraging the Church, attending/serving at Church events etc. We also schedule in some prayer-walks – we want to see God breaking through and breaking strongholds in this place!

This year we will be in Kruja from Monday 30th June until Saturday 5th June.  Our programme is not yet confirmed but will most likely include the above.  We will be split up in groups of two or more, living with families connected to the Church.  Please pray that we would be a blessing to them.

PASKUQAN

Our work in Paskuqan involves working alongside a young Church.  We take the young people away to the mountains in Lura for a few days of fellowship and fun.  During this time we build relationships and lead a number of devotions and times of prayer and worship

This year we will be with the Paskuqan Church from Saturday 5th July until Saturday 12th.  Our time in Lura has a more specific focus this year – commissioning the new/future leaders of the Church and training them up, as the missionaries who run the Church are soon to leave.  We will have a number of teambuilding games, and talks will be focused around themes of teamwork, unity, encouraging each other, servant-heartedness and humility.  This is what the Church in Paskuqan really needs to hear at this time.

KORÇA

This year we will be heading to Korca, in the South of Albania, for the first time from Saturday 12th – Tuesday 15th July.  We don’t really know what this will look like, but we are open to God using us and speaking to us.  There is a possibility we may have the opportunity to go into Macedonia to assist in some outreach that the Albanians run there.  We would love to support and encourage them in this.
