Open Heaven had its 15-year birthday party on a week last Saturday, and boy did we celebrate - birthday cake and all! The planning team had been meeting since January, over copious amounts of tea.
OH1 Gatherings Team
Creating relevant expressions of church for people to encounter and respond to Christ is a core purpose for us in OH. We are not backing off from our mandate to gather, believing that when we are together God’s presence is evident amongst us. And when God shows up people always change and the Kingdom breaks in.
That is why part of my new role is to oversee a team of people who will be responsible for OH1 gatherings. The leadership Team will still have bottom line responsibility and will continue to shape and oversee OH1, but we want to create a team of about 5 people who will look out for the OH1 gatherings as a whole. The team will meet monthly to pray, seek God and to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going as well as leading and speaking on a regular basis. This team will also support the many other teams of volunteers who serve the gatherings.
I’m really looking forward to the role and my desire is that our gatherings continue to reflect the heart and values of OH. I am looking forward to the lives that will be impacted and the stories that will be told of encounters with Christ in the coming year.
