OnLine 2008

Ali Wilson and Jimmy Zachariah are doing DNA:OnLine this year and I wanted to let you know a bit more about what OnLine is and what Ali and Jimmy are focussing on during the year.

For those not in the know, DNA is a general discipleship year developing skills, character and understanding through being involved in a variety of local projects. OnLine is essentially a follow on year to DNA. It's a year for those who have a clear sense of passion and calling and are stepping into carrying responsibility in the church. It’s for those who want to grow in leadership and who want to have some practical training and input along side.

The support and training is where OnLine really comes in with a programme which involves three separate week long residentials and three 2 day training blocks in the year.

Ali did DNA several years ago and has a growing passion for the church and management. Ali is currently a student but has managed to find about a day a week to give to doing OnLine.

There are three elements to Ali’s OnLine year:

OH1 Gatherings
Ali will be serving and supporting OH1 gatherings in particular. As well as being on the OH1 gatherings team he'll be carrying specific responsibility for supporting and developing the different team leaders that help make OH1 gatherings what they are.

Worship Leading
Ali wants to learn and keep growing in the area of leading worship.

The Role of Management
Throughout the year Ali will be learning about the role of management both in the church and also in the business world. He’ll be interviewing and writing a project on the way Christians can and should manage.

Jimmy did DNA last year and is now working for BACA. Jimmy also has about a day a week to give to OnLine and will likewise Jimmy will be working in three areas:

Working with Ex-offenders
Jimmy will be finding ways of helping ex-offenders re-engage in the community, particularly those who have shown openness to God previously.

International Prayer Breakfasts
The second area that Jimmy is involved in is co-ordinating the International Prayer Breakfasts. These happen on the last Wednesday of every month.

The Marginalised
Jimmy will be helping raise the profile of the marginalised and how we as a church can respond.

It'd be great to support these guys as they take this step, and if you want to find out more about the different things they are involved in then I'm sure they will be keen to let you know.
