The unusual thing about the theme for this term is that I knew a couple of years ago (April '07) that we should do this theme in about two years time – which is now! I don’t think that process has ever happened before in the choosing of a term’s theme.

A Big Thank You

Over the last few weeks we referred to Nov 22nd 09 as the day we would come together to raise thousands and thousands of pounds. Well, we did just that.

£118,737 to be exact, which with Gift Aid, results in £137,363 being raised in one day!

It's a great start. Without knowing who gave what, I know that many of you gave and that many of you gave sacrificially. Thank-you for giving God room to speak and responding to his nudges with obedience.

We are also expecting responses from the letters we sent out to parents and ex-Open Heaveners over the coming weeks and our hope is that these responses will take us over the £500,000 mark (we're at £457,000 right now).

We are also applying to trusts at this time and so please pray for massive favour and the release of significant sums of money to us. We would love to reach £800,000 over the 3 years of giving, which is humanly pretty impossible but as Martin Luther King said:

"Dream things with God so big that they are doomed to failure unless God comes through"

Why not? It's a great way to live!

I love being part of a community that dreams big and gives beyond themselves. So, again, thank you.
