Why We're Here
Open Heaven’s Mission Statement is ‘Making C21st Disciples’.
This is simply fulfilling the Great Commission in Matt 28:19 "Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations" but doing it by being fully and intentionally engaged
in 21st century culture. We recognise disciple-making should be at the very centre of
church life, both making new disciples through relevant evangelism and helping
current disciples become more like Jesus.
Our mission is not simply an aspirational statement, but a clear declaration
of our intent, that has shaped and influenced every aspect of the church. In particular
it provides the principles of being a discipleship based church. This means there
are plenty of opportunities to be discipled, whether through 1 to 1 discipleship
from an older christian, mentoring groups or accessing the student equipping track.
Our aim is that every individual is helped to become more of whom God has created
them to be.
We live out our mission according to our 5 distinct values - G.R.A.C.E.
