Pre-term Celebration 2004

Tuesday 28th Oct 'a significant night in the spiritual calendar'. About 50 of us gathered in St Peter's on the eve of fresher arrivals 04.

We met to cry out to God for our campus to see a shift in the heavenly realms and to pray for the 4,000 freshers arriving over the next 72 hours.

We heard the dreams of the cell planting teams about what they wanted God to do in their halls and we gathered around them and laid our hands on them and asked for God's equiping and annointing.

The ornate, candle lit building rocked with the sounds of shouts, groans and Ben's drums. It was an accumulation of months of hoping and dreaming about this new generation of freshers and the new hall strategy. Our prayers were expressions of our longings to see God move in halls of residence and lecture halls.

Our prayers weren't based on what we know about campus and what we can see but based on what we do not know and cannot see. Our prayers were statments of faith. Faith in God who is love and has power.

"It showed me its all about faith, whether you feel it or not - I pushed through and things happened" - Lucy (fresher Harry French)
