Si - Aug 2004

Early in 2004 Si received a prophetic word about going to Spain - something he had been talking about for some years.  So he applied for a number of teaching jobs and was appointed as a PE and History teacher in an international school in Madrid.

During his time in Spain, Si wants to be getting fully imersed in the culture, learning the language and is looking to network with local Chritians who have a similar heart to be reaching the young people in the area.

In terms of prayer points Si has written...

"I feel convinced once again that I am to be part of something new and try and model something different, just not sure how that will look, I’ve been to a few churches now and most of them suck! not to be judgmental but just that i want to reach the people that they are not reaching, that’s why I’ve joined a rugby club with a bunch of rough Spaniards and this is why im going out partying and clubbing so much, not just for my own enjoyment....

"I think it is a quote by Wilberforce who said something like, 'forget about the middle classes for they will always look after themselves, go to the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor...'

"At the moment I’m finding myself amongst the richest of the rich, not by choice but that’s just the way it has been, if at the moment this is my mission field then I need to be salt and light in this place. for example I know the guy here who writes all the Spanish football stories for the guardian, the telegraph and the footy magazine 4-4-2 he also translates for Becks and Owen, one of his rich mates, I think Steve McManaman and Jonathan Woodgate's agent, or friend or something took us to a mega posh club, I would never normally have got in...

"When I find myself in these places I want to be on fire for God, it is very easy to get dulled by the whole experience and needless to say the temptations are many... I would love to be in such a place with the movers and shakers and be having crazy god appointments with them

"So really I pray that god will put me in the right places but also that when I am there I am sharp not being distracted etc "
