One of our three core purposes as a church is that we 'raise up leaders'.  It has always been close to the heartbeat of the church to take risks and develop people's potential.  After all that's the only reason we started coz someone took some risks and developed some young, keen graduates!

We develop leaders in many different ways; through cell and team leading, through School of Leaders and now we've launched the Open Heaven intern scheme.  We are seeing the need to more intentionally invest in those with the spiritual gift of leadership and allow them to grow into specific areas of responsibility in the church.

The intern year is NOT and alternative discipleship year.  We still want to encourage everyone to consider doing DNA to give them a good foundational grounding in their faith and to go deeper with God.  The interns will be giving 2 days a week to work voluntarily for the church and working 3 days a week to support themselves. They work closely with a member of staff and they will spend 4 hours a week being trained and studying leadership and theology.
