DNA in Loughborough

What is DNA?

DNA is an international yearlong discipleship-training programme focussing on character development, alongside a teaching programme and opportunities to develop skills. Over the last 10 years, 28 people from Open Heaven have chosen to do DNA as part of their ongoing discipleship, with nearly all of those staying in Loughborough to do it with Open Heaven.
  • For a general introduction to the work of DNA read the leaflet (available from the resource centre) or visit the DNA website

Why do DNA in Loughborough?

Firstly, many things are already in place. Often there is an ongoing discipling relationship, your giftings are known and already started being developed, and you have established a community of friends. With all the change DNA brings it can be useful to have some consistency & continuity rather than being surrounded by complete strangers in a new place.
Often you’ll already be involved in the running of the church, so there are already opportunities to try out your giftings and leadership skills. You are already known and therefore trusted in your strength and abilities.
Finally, many people doing DNA have spent 3 or more years sowing into what God is doing in Loughborough and want to continue to do that.

What Will I be Doing on DNA?

Each person’s programme is tailored to the individual with a mix of DNA team activities thrown in.  There will be a blend of outworking your heart and gifting whilst serving the church. Initially the programme is quite structured, but as the year progresses you are able to carve & shape your own programme in line with your heart, interests and giftings. Previous DNAers have been involved in the following:

Campus based evangelism, FND prayer teams, Church administration, Church Gatherings, Alpha, creative work, schools & youth work, leading cells and of course… the Open Heaven Church weekend away!

You will also experience regular training days in London, 3 residential weeks, be part of the Spring Harvest team, lead summer evangelism teams, and have opportunity to go on an International trip.

The DNA year runs from mid October to the beginning of September. This means that no-one is doing it right now but if you're interested in doing it from October there is still time. If you want more information check out the DNA website or please don't hesitate to contact this years trainee: Gwen.
