We are also a Resource Church for Pioneer Midlands, which means we serve and strengthen the dozen or so churches connected to us.


Operations Manager - Maternity Cover

We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic person to cover the maternity leave of our Operations Manager from May 2020. The role entails providing strategic and operational support to the Senior Leadership Team, Staff Team and Board of Trustees and maintaining the development of our operations as Open Heaven Church continues to grow as a church, flourish and fulfil our mission and goals. 

This is a key role within the organisation in terms of helping Open Heaven Church be an effective and encouraging place to work. You will be responsible for maintaining the excellent systems and procedures already in place to cultivate a healthy and effective organisation, including the reporting and management of budget and finances, health and safety, IT equipment and resources, data, and our office culture. You will also hold the safeguarding lead for Open Heaven, work with others to ensure events, communications and the running of the St Peter’s Centre are managed well, along with the responsibility for ensuring all staff, interns and volunteers are recruited, resourced, developed and managed effectively. 

This is a part - time role covering maternity leave of up to a year, working for 3 to 4 days per week. You will be based in the Open Heaven offices, St. Peters Centre, Loughborough. The salary is £21,000 full - time equivalent. It is a genuine occupational requirement of this post to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be part of the Open Heaven Church family. If you are passionate about outworking Open Heaven’s vision to “make disciples who establish heaven on earth”, have a desire to serve and can bring the necessary skills, knowledge, expertise and experience to this challenging post.

Cafe Assistant - Maternity Cover 

We are looking to recruit a Cafe Assistant to join our brilliant cafe team and to help ensure the cafe runs well and is a great experience for everyone coming into the St Peter's Centre. This post is a temporary appointment of up to a year, to cover maternity leave, working 13 hours per week. This role has a salary of between £6.15 - £8.21 per hour, depending on age and experience.It's a genuine occupational requirement to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ, in order to help visibly communicate that God's church is full of life and to outwork the values of the Kingdom of God on earth through welcome, hospitality and relationship building. Cafe Assistant - Saturdays

We are looking to recruit a Cafe Assistant to join our brilliant cafe team and to help ensure the cafe runs well and is a great experience for everyone coming into the St Peter's Centre. This post is a permanent appointment, subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, working 4 hours per week, from 10.00 - 2.00pm on Saturdays. This role has a salary of between £6.15 - £8.21 per hour, depending on age and experience. It’s a genuine occupational requirement to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ, in order to help visibly communicate that God’s church is full of life and to outwork the values of the Kingdom of God on earth through welcome, hospitality and relationship building. Volunteer Cafe Assistants

We are looking to develop our pool of volunteers to join our brilliant cafe team and to help ensure the cafe runs well and is a great experience for everyone coming into the St Peter’s Centre; a place where we continue to serve quality food with great service in a warm, safe and friendly setting; a place to reflect our values of hospitality and welcome, and to signpost people to church gatherings and activities. As a Cafe Assistant, you will be involved in taking orders and serving customers, preparing food, washing up, welcoming and directing people, and helping to set up and close down at the beginning and end of the day. There will also be opportunities to help cater for larger one-off events being held in the building. If you have a desire to serve and engage with people in the cafe, or want to get some work experience to include in your CV, then consider having a chat with Gemma Skevington, the Cafe Manager, the next time you’re in the St Peter’s Centre, or contact her at gemma@openheaven.org. Previous catering experience isn’t necessary as you’ll be trained on the job. Hours are flexible, depending on the needs of the cafe, all of which Gemma will explain when you see her.


Casual Cafe Staff

We are also looking to develop a bank of paid casual cafe staff, who are available to work at (potentially) short notice to cover staff holidays, sickness, events, conferences and busy periods in the year.
