Volunteer Cafe Assistants

We are looking to develop our pool of volunteers to join our brilliant cafe team and to help ensure the cafe runs well and is a great experience for everyone coming into the St Peter’s Centre; a place where we continue to serve quality food with great service in a warm, safe and friendly setting; a place to reflect our values of hospitality and welcome, and to signpost people to church gatherings and activities. As a Cafe Assistant, you will be involved in taking orders and serving customers, preparing food, washing up, welcoming and directing people, and helping to set up and close down at the beginning and end of the day. There will also be opportunities to help cater for larger one-off events being held in the building. If you have a desire to serve and engage with people in the cafe, or want to get some work experience to include in your CV, then consider having a chat with Gemma Skevington, the Cafe Manager, the next time you’re in the St Peter’s Centre, or contact her at gemma@openheaven.org. Previous catering experience isn’t necessary as you’ll be trained on the job. Hours are flexible, depending on the needs of the cafe, all of which Gemma will explain when you see her.

Casual Cafe Staff

We are also looking to develop a bank of paid casual cafe staff, who are available to work at (potentially) short notice to cover staff holidays, sickness, events, conferences and busy periods in the year. If you have experience of working in a cafe environment and are willing to work on this ad hoc basis, Gemma Skevington, Cafe Manager would love to hear from you. Contact her at gemma@openheaven.org or talk to her when you're next in the cafe.
