Messy Church is a different way of doing church. It started in Britain just 10 years ago and has already spread to over 2000 locations around the world. It's a great way of bringing families closer together and bringing everyone closer to Jesus.
Who is Messy Church for?
Messy Church is mainly intended for people who don't already belong to another form of church, but anyone can come, of any age and at any stage on your journey of faith.
Over the year, we run a series of different events. These include:
Messy Church family sessions
These sessions currently take place about 3 times a year, and each session includes:
Creative time to explore a topic using activities and crafts
A short all-age talk altogether which explores the theme using bible stories and songs
The idea is that everyone joins in everything: there are no separate adults' and children's activities.
Our annual Light Party
An opportunity for children in Primary school to join us for themed activity sessions. The session takes place on a Saturday afternoon towards the end of October and includes games, challenges, activities around a specific theme and a chance to reflect on God's love for us all.
In addition, we also run other themed events over the year. All of these are advertised via our Facebook page and through the partner churches that we work with in making Messy Church happen. These are Elim Church and Kings Church.
What does it cost?
Messy Church is free, and you do not have to pay anything. If you wish to make a contribution towards the costs of the food and craft activities, there is a donation pot available.
