What's On » Safehaven Café

Safehaven Café is a 5-week well-being café for parents with pre-school aged children who need help with their mental health and general well-being.

We run 5-week courses with hot, healthy food for parents with pre-school aged children who need help particularly with depression, anxiety, self-esteem and isolation. Our large volunteer team allow us to put on supervised children's activities and support parents and carers in the group. We hope families will get to know others, be heard and understood, and pick up practical skills through our workshops.

We have an encouraging track record of seeing families' mental health and well-being significantly improve through our courses, and take seriously the opportunity to support families on social care plans. We have worked with more than 50 local families since we started in October 2016. During that time we have accepted referrals from Social Services, Health Visitors, Childrens Centres, Supporting Leicestershire Families, Childrens and Families Wellbeing Service, as well as Nurseries and Refuges.

Safehaven Café runs from 12pm - 2pm, at the St Peter's Centre on Storer Road. We meet in the Small Hall on the First Floor, which can be accessed via our main entrance. Lift access is available. Our volunteer team are trained and DBS checked via Open Heaven church. Our food is freshly prepared at St Peter's Café.
